This incident is proof that racism and discrimination are still huge in todays society. The next day she was fired over the phone is less than a minute. Nothing was done about the woman and she was allowed to stay and continue to be serviced, and Nina was the told by one of her managers that if she was uncomfortable serving with this woman in the building, she should leave, and so she did.
Instead of standing with her, a loyal employee, they chose the side of racism. Nina, a Black and Latina woman, was rightfully furious and expressed this to her managers and one of the owners of the establishment. During her shift that Friday, a woman came into the restaurant proudly sporting blackface. The restaurant was hosting a Halloween costume event for staff and guests. Over this past weekend, October 22nd-24th, Nina was fired from her serving job of over a year.

He admitted he had lied to parliament after MPs accused him of having a relationship with Miss Keeler, a 21-year-old call girl. The arrest comes three days after the resignation of the Secretary of State for War, John Profumo. 1963: Ward charged over 'immoral earnings'Ī key figure in the Profumo affair has been charged with living on immoral earnings.ĭr Stephen Ward, a London osteopath and friend of Christine Keeler, was arrested in Watford and taken to Marylebone Lane police station.
